These town centers are a great fusion of suburb and city with easy access to downtown. Without further ado, we present:

Best Western Burbs

(With a dash of bias because we live in the area and LOVE it! No shame in sharing something great!)

DG

Downers Grove

This vibrant village’s population boosted in 1864 when the railroad was extended from Aurora to Chicago through Downers Grove. It is now conveniently connected to the loop through not one, not two, but THREE railway stations guaranteeing a pleasant commute for its inhabitants. Downtown DG provides beautifully updated restaurants and boutiques for residents and visitors to enjoy. Do you like going to things? Elmhurst

This St. Patrick’s Day parade is the third largest parade of its kind in the Chicago area. If you’re looking for culture, Art in Wilder Park boasts fine arts, crafts, and creations of over 100 artists. Yes, there will be food. (;

Geneva

Known for its prime location on the Fox River, this vibrant downtown scene offers several events throughout the month. Like somebody? Take them on a Tuesday Date Night offered by Fox Fire! There are several shops and restaurants to enjoy. ATTENTION BIKERS: (ding-ding, not vroom-vroom) This beautiful suburb offers an extensive bike trail system so you can pedal to your heart’s content. Base-ballers :: Kane County Cougars provides an affordable option to go catch a baseball game. Other perks include a Metra station to sweep you to Chicago. Tom Hanks, Jude Law, and Paul Newman also graced Geneva with their presence while filming The Road to Perdition. If Tom Hanks was there, you know it has to be fancy!

GE

Glen Ellyn

Median Household Income: $97,039

Population: 27,890

With a smaller population and a brush with fame, Glen Ellyn made our list for all of its special qualities. Glenbard West High School gained the spotlight when it was used as the setting of Winona Ryder’s first movie, Lucas! We can just feel the magic in the air. Charlie Sheen was also in the movie, but we don’t talk about that anymore.

This village also offers beautiful Lake Ellyn, where we are actually volunteering this year to keep it beautiful for future residents! Enough about how awesome GE is, what can this haven do for you? Glad you asked! Glen Ellyn offers a train to Chi Town via the Union Pacific West line. There is also an annual Backyard BBQ in September to tempt your tastebuds with DE-LISH BBQ and sweet, sweet blues. If you ever visit or decide to move here, be sure to stop by the office and say hello! We know what is important and have plenty of food recommendations ready.
